As our next guest, we have Padraic Walsh who has presented the Late Late Lunchbox on Midwest Radio for the past 26 years.
Just after 3 every Monday to Friday the airwaves at Midwest Radio are filled with a mix of classic oldies alongside some of today’s hottest hits and a large helping of magical inserts thrown in for good measure! ‘The Late Late Lunchbox’ has been one of Midwest Radio’s flagship programmes with presenter Padraic Walsh steering the programme through the gears from 3 to 5.30 every Monday to Friday!
As well as the best of music and banter there are lots of quirky inserts, showbiz entertainment news, giveaways galore and the highly-popular daily Alphabet quiz that offers listeners the chance to show-off their general knowledge skills and win the great weekly prize.
The magic of the ‘Late Late Lunchbox’ is very much in the music. From the 70’s to the ‘noughties’ and the best sing-a-long songs from the pop charts this fast-moving radio show captures the imagination and captivates the audience.
Listeners are kept up-to-date on everything that’s happening across the region with traffic reports, news of social events and everything else that moves in Mayo and beyond.
We open the lunch box every afternoon at 3 and delve in to all the goodies that await our listeners with spicy stories, sweet music and tasty competitions to whet the appetite!

Padraic lives in Castlebar but remains a proud ‘Rossie’ as he was born in Castlerea, County Roscommon. He studied Sound Engineering in Ballyfermot Senior College as he was always interested in music production and sound. As well as presenting the Late Late Lunch Box he also works in our Production Department producing and voicing radio commercials
